Akshata Krishnmurthy is a teacher, poet and columnist in the Kannada monthly magazine Tushara where she writes on Kannada schools. Her workplace since 2007 is in Anshi, the Kali tiger reserve area in Uttara Kannada district. She has written seven books in Kannada. Her literary works include three collections of poems, Hanneradu Dade Bella, Kolgmba and Naanu Deepa Hacchabekendidde; a short story collection, Abboli; and a biography, Sukri Bomma Gowda. The awards she has received include the Mayuravarma Award and the Kademgodlu Kavya Prashasti.
