Bio

Bhaskar Chattopadhyay is an author, translator, scriptwriter, script consultant, columnist and film critic. Bhaskar has translated the works of several celebrated writers such as Rabindranath Tagore, Premchand, Tarashankar Bandopadhyay, Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Premendra Mitra, Rajshekhar Basu, Narendra Nath Mitra, Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Hasan Azizul Haque, Moti Nandi and Satyajit Ray. His own novels include the serial killer thriller ‘Patang’. He has also written a series of mystery novels featuring his popular detective Janardan Maity. The three books in the series are ‘Penumbra’, ‘Here Falls the Shadow’ and ‘The Disappearance of Sally Sequeira’, and they pay tribute to the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. Bhaskar has also novelized Satyajit Ray’s landmark film ‘Nayak’ (The Hero) and writes extensively on the subject of cinema.
