Bio

Dr. Nancy E. Batty is currently a Project Management Specialist at the College of North Atlantic in Doha, Qatar. Prior to that, she taught English Literature for over 18 years at Red Deer College in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Batty has published essays on Shashi Deshpande, Salman Rushdie, William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, Arundhati Roy, and M.G. Vassanji. She received a Shastri Indo-Canadian Research Grant in 2007-2008 to travel to India to conduct research at the Study Centre for Indian Literature in English and Translation (SCILET) in Madurai. The monograph that resulted from this research, The Ring of Recollection: Transgenerational Haunting in the Novels of Shashi Deshpande, was published by Rodopi in 2011. Dr. Batty has visited Bangalore many times, but this will be the first time she has attended the Bangalore Literature Festival.
