Lakshmi Karunakaran - Bangalore Literature Festival (BLF)

Bio

Lakshmi Karunakaran is an art based educator and communication professional. She started her career as a telecom engineer but soon shifted gears to work first as a communication specialist and later as an educator. In 2013, when she decided to move to the social sector and work with children and arts, Lakshmi relocated to Kolar Gold Fields where she lived and worked with five government run primary schools for over a year. This inspired her to use art as a medium of education and she now works with Government schools in urban/rural areas, and in alternate and remedial schools with a diverse population of children and educators.

She has been selected as a resident artist at the AIR Laboratory Program 2017, Warsaw for a project on children from post industrial areas. She currently works as a consultant at Radio Active 90.4 MHz, Bangalore’s first community radio station, where she produces shows on arts, education and inclusivity. She also works with Rangashanka Theatre Group as a facilitator for a Theatre in Education Program.
