Andie De Arment joined the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai as Cultural Affairs Officer in August 2014. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, Andie comes to India from the U.S. Interest Section in Havana, Cuba, where she worked as the American Citizen Services Chief. She has previously served as Information Officer in Karachi, Pakistan and Public Affairs Officer in Surabaya, Indonesia. Andie was nominated for the U.S. Department of State’s highest public diplomacy honor, the Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy in 2011. A native of Northwest Pennsylvania, Andie holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, a law degree (Juris Doctor), and Certificate in International Trade and Development from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the Department of State she lived and worked overseas in China, Poland, and Kenya.
