Bio

Arun Joladkudligi is from Joladakudligi in Kuttur taluk of Vijayanagar district. He completed his graduation in Harakanalu, Ujjini and Kotturu in Kuttur taluk. Later, he did his MA in Folklore and MA in Kannada Literature from Kannada University, Hampi. He obtained his PhD from the same university. He completed his post-doctoral research on folk poets under the guidance of Prof. Rahamat Tarikere. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kannada at Dr. Ambedkar College of Arts and Commerce and Postgraduate Centre, Kalaburagi.

For his achievements in the field of literature, he has received the Rajyotsava Book Award from Gulbarga University, the Janapada Deepa Award given by Honnavar’s Janapada Prakashan, and the Prajavani and Sanchaya Kavya Awards. He was selected as a ‘Change Maker’ by the Deccan Herald newspaper in 2022. He has returned the Aralu Sahitya Award given by the Kannada Sahitya Parishad to the government in protest against the delay in the investigation of MM Kalburgi’s murder.

Arun has presented research papers at the international, national, and state levels. Poetry, stories, and research papers are his creative expression. He has been running a web blog called ‘Kannada Janapada’ since 2010. He actively conducts discussions on democratic and constitutional issues on social media. He has been running a YouTube series called Ambedkar Odu since 2021. So far, he has archived 140 hours of audio of Ambedkar’s written speeches. His writings have been included in textbooks in twelve universities and one autonomous college.
