Bio
Chandrashekhar Khare recently published a mathematical memoir—Chasing A Conjecture (Inside the Mind of a Mathematician), Juggernaut (2025)—about his decade-long journey to the solution of a major conjecture in Number Theory.
Khare was awarded the coveted Fermat Prize in 2007 for this solution (proof of “Serre’s conjecture”), working alongside the French mathematician, Jean-Pierre Wintenberger.
He is married to a doctor and they have two children. He is deeply interested in Indian classical music, and reading and writing.
