Bio

Gururaj S Davanagere is a Professor of Applied Mathematics and serves as the Director of the National Academy of R.R. Institutions in Bengaluru. He is from Halavagalu village in Davanagere district.

For the past 30 years, his articles on science, technology, and environmental subjects have been published in prominent newspapers across the state. ​So far, he has authored eight books. His work 'Data Devaru Bandaytu' (Data God Has Arrived) received the Best Book Award for the year 2021-22 from the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy and the Best Science Book Award from the Karnataka Sangha, Shivamogga. His work 'Hasiru Manvantara' (Green Epoch) received the Best Column Writing Award for the year 2022 from the Swabhimani Karnataka Vedike, Bengaluru. His book on environmental issues, 'Hasiru Manthana' (Green Churning), was honoured with the Ha.Ma. Nayak Memorial Column Writing Award for the year 2023 by the Karnataka Sangha, Shivamogga.

​His recent works include 'Panchayat Power' on Panchayat (local governing) institutions that have made unique achievements across the country, 'Virat Vijnana' (Colossal Science) on contemporary global science topics, and 'Net Zero' on zero carbon emissions. He was the chief editor for the felicitation volume 'Nela Guna' for the senior science and environmental writer Nagesh Hegde. His books on the new-age technology 'Artificial Intelligence' and Quantum Science, which has completed a century, are currently in press. Recognizing his contribution to environmental literature, B.M.S. Institute of Technology honoured him with the 'Green Teacher' Award in 2021. Mr. Gururaj has been an invited speaker at Akashavani, Bangalore, and Suvarna, News 18, and Public TV news channels.
