Bio

K. Nalla Thambi is a writer, translator, and photographer. He has translated over 65 books between Tamil and Kannada, besides publishing his own short stories in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu, and a Kannada poetry collection, Koshy’s Kavithegalu.

Born in Mysore, he spent 35 years in the corporate world, before turning full-time to literature. His translations have won him major honours, including the Sahitya Akademi Award (2022) for his Tamil rendering of Nemichandra’s Yadvashem, and the Gourava Prashasthi (2022) from Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi. A passionate photographer, his works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, with six photographs in the Lalit Kala Akademi collection. He has also served with literary and cultural bodies such as the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi and the Tamil Nadu Translation Grant Committee.
