Manasi Prasad is a noted classical vocalist from Bangalore and the Museum Director of the Indian Music Experience Museum (IME).
Manasi has learnt Carnatic classical music from renowned gurus such as RK Padmanabha in Bangalore and Sriram Parasuram in Chennai. She has performed widely across India and in 6 continents around the world. She is a recipient of several awards in music, including the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Govt. of India. Manasi is an engineering graduate, and went on to do her MBA from IIM Bangalore. She has been awarded a Fellowship by the TED Organization, and has been recognized as one of the 35 ‘Indians of Tomorrow’ by the India Today publications.
In her role as Museum Director at IME, Manasi conceptualized and led a team that curated the 9 permanent exhibits of the Indian Music Experience Museum. She also co-curated Ravi Shankar@100: India’s global musician, a centennial exhibition on the sitar maestro, which opened at the IME in 2020. Manasi has been involved in reviving the compositions of violin maestro, Mysore T. Chowdiah, and has spearheaded the creation of www.chowdiah.com, an online digital archive on his life and works. She has also striven to pivot the museum to a larger community orientation with projects for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
