Bio

Nisar Azam, born Nassar Ahmad Shah in 1977 at Dangiwacha Rafiabad, District Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir State is a young Kashmiri writer/poet and translator. Writing poetry in Kashmiri/Urdu and Hindi from his early teens. He joined Prominent Literary Organisation Rafiabad Adabi Markaz as its youngest ever member at the age of 13 years. He is one amoungst a few Kashmiri poets whose work was published in noted Hindi magazine “Vasudha” in its Jammu and Kashmir number titled “Jammu Kashmir ki Sarjan Abhivyektiyaan”.

His first poetic collection “Patti Leji Zoon Daras” (THEN THE MOONS EYES FROZE) published in the year 2009 was widely praised and appreciated. He has the distinction of being the youngest Kashmiri poet to receive first ever Yuva Sahitya Akedmi Award, 2011 for his maiden poetry collection. He is presently the President of the Rafiabad Adabi Markaz.
