Prof. KV Tirumalesh is a well-known Kannada writer and a recepient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award for 2015 for his poetry collection Akshaya Kavya. Formerly a professor at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, he has written on a variety of themes, ranging from history, mathematics, psychology, philosophy, and science, besides literature and translations. He has over 20 publications to his credit, including Avadha, Papiyu, Vathara and Mukhavadagalu. His many published essays deal with topics in linguistics, literary theory, translation, and the teaching of English. Also a well-known Kannada poet, he has published several collections of poetry and translated the works of poets such as Ezra Pound and Wallace Stevens into Kannada.
