Bio
Rajaram Tallur is a former journalist and a linguist. He writes a weekly column “Pitkayana” on policy changes post liberalisation in the Kannada daily Varthabharathi. He has 11 publications in his name, including Covid Karidabbi (2022) which won him the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Prize; Nunnanna Betta (2017) which won him the Amma Award; Tallur LN (2018); Enidu Paurathva Kayide (2019); Duppattu (2020); and Namde Kathe (2021). He translated Montek Singh Ahluvalia’s “Backstage” into Kannada in 2023 (Title: M Document). He is a recipient of the Shivarama Karanth Puraskara (2020).
He started his career in 1989 at the Kannada daily Mungaru, and was later head of Udayavani.com (erstwhile southnexus.com), the first comprehensive Kannada web portal from 2000-2006. He was the Editor of the first Kannada health supplement for a daily newspaper (Udayavani) – Arogyavani from 2001 till 2017.
He is one of the Trustees of the Tallur Family Trust (R.), an NGO that works in the areas of Health, Education and Culture in Udupi district. The Trust has been running a special school in the region for the last 18 years.
