Bio

Dr. Shantala is a practising Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in Bengaluru. She is an alumnus of Bangalore Medical College and Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi ; passing out with distinctions and gold medal.

She has since served in Government, Private & Charitable institutions in India. She has also worked in private sector in Dubai & also received advanced training in UK. She is passionate about her work & is interested in uplifting women & working for their cause.

She is a published bilingual writer (Kannada & English). She has written for all the Kannada weeklies, monthlies & had columns in dailies. Her first two novels were serialised in the Kannada magazine, ‘ Taranga’.

Her English story has also published in an anthology by Fygleaves Publishers in UK. Recently, she won the second prize for her English Sci-fi story ” The Stork Arrives” in the competition hosted by CSIR’s The Science Reporter Magazine.

She also writes for e-papers & web sites. She has several fiction/ non-fction/ medical articles to her credit, having completed three acclaimed novels in Kannada, the latest being a science fiction-‘3019 AD’ published in March 2021 as paper back, e- book & audio book formats by MyLang Publishers. She has also written chapters for medical textbooks.

Painting is her other passion. Being a self- taught artist, love of colours has always been her obsession, even from childhood. She has participated successfully in online & onsite art exhibitions. She likes to explore pastels, water colours, oils, acrylics or mixed media according to her muse and moods.

Writing & painting are not just her hobbies. They are her necessities and outlets for creativity and not just stress- busters of a busy schedule with erratic work-hours.

‘Creativity should have no boundaries, and must always be excited & rearing to push along newer paths,” is her mantra.
