Padma Shri Dr. Syeda Hameed is a writer and activist. She was member of the Planning Commission and the National Commission for Women. She also served as the Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. She is widely recognized for her passionate engagement in public affairs and social issues, especially for women, minorities, and peace. She is the Founder of the Muslim Women’s Forum and author of books on Islam, Sufism, gender, development, and modern Indian history.
