Arebashe: The Many Language Worlds of Karnataka

Dr. Vishwanatha Badikana is an Assistant Professor in the Kannada Department at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. He is from Mandekolu village in Sullia Taluk. He obtained his MA in Kannada and his MPhil on the topic “Gowda Kannadada
Janapada Kathegalu – Varga mathu Asheya Suchi” from Mangalore University. He did his PhD from Hampi Kannada University on the topic “Kannada Janapada Adhyayanada Modala Ghatta”. He has five publications on Gowda Kannada folktales, proverbs, AK Ramanujan’s life and work, the culture of Tulu stories, and Arebhashe grandmother’s tales. At present, he is a member of the Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruthi mathu Sahitya Academy. He is an active editor of the Kannada and Tulu Wikipedia, and he is the President of the Karavali Wikimedians User Group.
