Anukrti Upadhyay has post-graduate degrees in Management and Literature, and a graduate degree in Law. She also wrote a doctoral thesis in Hindi Literature in a past life.

She writes fiction and poetry in both English and Hindi. A collection of Hindi short stories, titled Japani Sarai, has been published by Rajpal and Sons and two English novellas, Daura and Bhaunri, have been published by HarperCollins under their prestigious literary imprint, Fourth Estate. A story-cycle with interconnected characters and a volume of short stories are also being published by HarperCollins in May 2020 and May 2021, respectively. A novella in Hindi is to be published in 2020 as well. Short stories in both and English and Hindi have appeared in prestigious literary journals.
Anukrti has previously worked in global investment banks in Hong Kong and India. Currently she is working with Wildlife Conservation Trust, a conservation think-tank. She is an Indian national, and divides her time between Bombay and Singapore.
