
Bio
Dr Alaka Rajan Skinner is a writer, educator, coach and soon-to-be counsellor. Alaka grew up in Iran and has lived in India, the US and Singapore. Her stories reflect the themes that matter to her, including diversity and cross-cultural understanding, wellbeing and the natural world. She writes fiction and non-fiction, prose and poetry for adults and children. Her published works include articles for print and online publications, short stories, and children’s stories. Her children’s book about sustainability Are You Listening? was featured on regional BBC radio, by Greenpeace Storytelling, at the Singapore Eco Festival and the Asian Festival of Children’s Content. Her latest book for children is Persian nights – An Indian Child in Iran, a graphic memoir which was published by Talking Cub, an imprint of Speaking Tiger, earlier this year.
