Bio
BM Basheer is the news editor of Vartha Bharati Kannada daily where he has been working for the last 22 years. He began his career in journalism at Karnataka Malla daily in Mumbai where he worked for 5 years. He worked as a senior editor at Janavahini daily for another 5 years. Born in Mata near Uppinangady, he graduated from the Government First Grade College, Uppinangady. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Mumbai where he was a gold medallist in his MA degree in Kannada Literature.
His awards include the Muddana Kavya Award, the Mysore Chaduranga Foundation Award, the Lankesh Award, the B R Ambedkar Endowment Award by the Karnataka Working Journalists Association, and the Muslim Sahithya Prashasthi.
