Gauri Shinde, is a noted film director and screenwriter. Her feature-film directorial debut English Vinglish is a critically acclaimed story inspired by her own relationship with her mother, a Marathi-speaking businesswoman who struggled with English. Her second major feature Dear Zindagi explored themes of mental health, self-reflection and emotional growth. Before making her mark in feature films, Shinde had a prolific career in advertising, working with agencies such as Bates Clarion and Lowe Lintas.
