After a masters degree from the Oberlin College in the USA, Manohar Devadoss became the director of ‘Asia House’ a co-educational programme dormitory. After his wife’s paralysis following a road accident in 1972, he lost his vision in the right eye with a narrow cone of dwindling vision in the left eye in 1975. He did as much artwork as he could. His book, ‘Green Well Years’ was published in 1997. This was followed by ‘Dreams Seasons and Promises’ and ‘A Poem to Courage’, both on Mahema, his wife. He also wrote ‘Multiple Facets of My Madurai’ and ‘From an Artist’s Perspective’. In 2008, Mahema passed away. Alone at 81, he doesn’t allow his blindness to define him.
