M.K. Raina is well-known across India for his contributions as an actor, filmmaker and academic. Raina has directed over 160 theatre productions, and acted in more than 150 plays & a major contributor to Indian New Wave cinema. He has been a fellow at the Stanford University and a scholar in residence at the Jamia Milia University New Delhi. He has been decorated with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the B.V. Karanth Lifetime Achievement Award among many others. He has been instrumental in reviving traditional folk theatre of Kashmir, Bhand Pather.
