Bio
Sudha Adukala is from a small village named Adukala in Honnavara Taluk, in the Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. She is currently working as a Mathematics lecturer at the Govt. Pre-University College for Girls, Udupi. She has been actively contributing to literature in various forms, including short stories, poetry, columns, plays, and translations. Ondu Idiya Balapa and Neeli Mathu Sebu are her published short story collections. She has translated Tagore’s Nobel-winning work, Geethanjali, and Oriana Fallaci’s novel, Letter to a Child Never Born, into Kannada. Bakulada Bagilindinda, Hole Saalu, and Sakhi Bhava are collections of her column writings.
Apart from this, she has penned several monodramas, including Radha, Nrutya Gaatha, Madhavi, Aananda Bhaavini, Raseedi Ticket and HejjegoLida BeLaku. Some of the children’s dramas are MakkaLa Ravindra, Kanaka Krishna, Makkala Ramayana, and Kitaki Pakka Nintha Hudugi. The National Book Trust of India has published her translation work on pedagogy for children, called Maguvina Bhashe Mathu Shikshaka. Some of the other translation works include Haade Ambedkar, Chitra and Kempu Kanagile.
Her column collection, Bakulada Bagilininda, has won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, the Gauru Bhat Endowment Award and the Amma Award. Makkala Ravindra has been awarded the Makkala Chandira prize of Karnataka Bala Vikasa Academy and Neeli Mathu Sebu has received the Triveni Endowment Award. She has also bagged First Place in the prestigious Prajavani Veeraloka Poetry Competition.
