V. J. James writes in Malayalam. An engineer by profession he worked at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He has published 7 novels and 7 short story collections. Five of his novels Anti-Clock, Chorashastra, Nireeswaran, Dattapaharam – Call of the Forest and The Book of exodus have been published in English by Penguin. Anti-Clock was shortlisted for the 2021 JCB Prize and longlisted for PFC-VoW Book award and Chorashasthra was shortlisted for the Atta Galatta – Bangalore Literature Festival Book Prize. Nireeswaran had bagged many awards including Kerala Sahithya Academy award and coveted Vayalar award.
