Achutha Rao Padaki is a well known humorist, theatre person, radio drama artiste with All India Radio and a popular actor on television. He presently serves as the Secretary of the Bangalore Gayana Samaj and is associated with several other civic, educational and social organizations including the Bangalore City Institute and the Kannada Sahitya Parishath. He is a receipient of several awards including the Aryabhata Award, the Karnataka Bhushana Award among others.
Noisy Neighbor: Bangalore Meets Berlin - Hand Puppetry And Hip-Hop | Paul Affeld and Gubbi
How do we live our life in a big city? How do we get in touch with people of our environment? Do we ignore or confront ourselves and others? Noisy neighbor will be a piece about the powers of our subconscious and the realm of invisibility, about the life in a metropolis, how we cope with our surroundings as well as our inner self.
The artistic duo Paul Affeld and Gubbi represent a cultural fusion of a special kind – Paul is a puppeteer and musician from Berlin and Gubbi a rapper with Bangalore roots known as one of the first to use literally Kannada language in his tracks.
The two musicians met this summer during Paul’s stay as a bangaloREsident@Jagriti Theatre as part of Max Mueller Bhavan’s artist-in-residence program bangaloREsidency which connects German artists with local partners from Bangalore. The piece is exclusively developed for the Bangalore Literature Festival through a 10-day work process.
Noisy neighbor will be presented lyrically in multiple languages with dialogues, music and puppets on stage.
Gubbi

Bio
Karthik Sundar Gubbi – better known by his stage name Gubbi – is a multilingual rapper from the city of Bengaluru. He raps predominantly in his mother tongue Kannada but also in English, Hindi and German. Gubbi’s approach is experimental and involves projects which blend rap with other musical genres. His musical background is to be found in battle rap and he is the first rapper using lyrical Kannada language.
Paul Affeld

Bio
Paul Affeld is a puppeteer and musician from Berlin, Germany and one of the founding members of the hip-hop project Puppetmastaz, a band with rapping hand puppets. Apart from touring, making albums and creating figurines, he tries to fill in the gap between ordinary theatre, dance and puppet theatre. From March to July 2016 he was part of Max Mueller Bhavan’s bangaloREsidency program and was hosted by Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield. In this context he developed the play Back From the Dark Side of the Moon together with four Bangalore actors, picking up the subject of mental illness and how our society deals with it.

Guru Rewben Mashangva

Bio
Rewben Mashangva, a.k.a Guru Rewben Mashangva is a folk musician and singer from Manipur, India. He is known for reviving musical tradition of the Tangkhul Naga of Manipur, and use of traditional musical instruments in his songs. Influenced by musicians like Bob Dylan and Bob Marley, Rewben Mashangva has created many Naga tribal folk songs based on blues and ballad rhythms. Known as ‘King of Naga Folk Blues’ by the public and ‘Cultural Ambassador of the Nagas’ Guru Rewben is truly a talented singer, musician, songwriter, folk music researcher and maker of musical instruments. He plays the guitar producing a ethnic folk sound, the harmonica, the four hole flute known as yangkahui, the tingteila (folk fiddle) and his rare cow bell percussion.
Mashangva was featured in the first season of The Dewarists along with The Raghu Dixit Project.

Bio
Piyush Mishra is an actor, music director, lyricist, singer and scriptwriter. He graduated from the National School of Drama, Delhi, in 1986, after which he worked in Hindi theatre. He shifted to Mumbai in 2002, receiving acclaim for his acting in Maqool and Gangs of Wasseypur. As a film lyricist and singer, he is noted for his songs “Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh” (Black Friday), “Aarambh Hai Prachand” (Gulaal), “Ik Bagal” (Gangs of Wasseypur), and “Husna” (MTV Coke Studio).
